For most people, the decision to get married comes after years of knowing the other person, as it’s a life-changing decision that you want to make sure you get right. The average person has been in a relationship for just under five years before getting married, but television has shown us that isn’t always the case.

Enter the world of “90 Day Fiance”, a reality series on TLC that follows along with couples that have 90 days to say yes or no to getting married before their K-1 visas expire. If they get cold feet or find that the marriage isn’t going to be what they hoped for, one person in the couple goes back to their home country. The series has been running since 2014, and season two introduced us to an interesting couple.

Danielle Mullins was 41 years old at the time she met 26 year old Mohamed Jbali. Both of them had secrets that they were hiding from each other, but decided to go through with the wedding. In 2017, Danielle and Mohamed officially divorced and started new relationships, and says that she’s now dating a man exclusively online that lives hundreds of miles away, all while trying to get Mohamed deported back to Tunisia.

Because of her polarizing personality that was displayed for millions, Mullins received a lot of comments, especially negative ones about her weight. At the time of the show airing, it was estimated that Mullins was around 250 pounds. After her recent divorce, Mullins decided to make a change by following in the steps of another former TLC reality star.

If you remember Mama June from “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”, she appeared on a show called “From Not to Hot” that showcased her massive weight loss and makeover. Gina Rodriguez is the woman that managed Mama June through the whole thing, and said that a weight loss show was in store for Mullins, as well. The news came out in August 2017, though there wasn’t an official confirmation about what the show would be called.

After the news broke, people were interested to see if Mullins was going to lose the weight as fast as Mama June did on her series. Mullins had started to make some progress, but then it was announced that a show wouldn’t be airing. Mullins said that she was “parting ways” with Rodriguez, leading to more controversy, especially when Rodriguez responded.

“I quit on Danielle, not the other way around, and it had zero to do with the story she made up on social media,” she said. Rodriguez claimed that Mullins was difficult to work with, including personal trainer Natasha Fett that was trying to get her in shape. “We almost had to file a restraining order and we had to block her on everything because she could not accept that we no longer wanted to work with her.” She even added that “There was never a makeover show for Danielle, the media made that up because I produce (Mama June’s) show.”

The situation had become a bit odd, as it appeared that Mullins had lost weight in the two months since the rumors started and was even exercising. Shortly after the news of the show not happening, Mullins posted a photo on social media of herself exercising, saying that she’s been on the treadmill in hopes of losing a few pounds. Mullins has been starting off her weight loss regimen with walking, slowly working up to more intense exercises as she loses weight.

It’s still early in her weight loss journey, but it’s estimated that Mullins has lost around 30 pounds since her divorce from Mohamed Jbali, and is hoping to continue. There are even rumors from certain sources that say she’s shopping her weight loss journey around to other producers that might want to get in on the action, even if it’s not the same producer that followed the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star around. It would also be on a different network most likely, as “From Not to Hot” was on WEtv.

Posting inspirational photos on social media has been a big hobby for Mullins as of late, signalling that she’s still in the midst of losing weight. She hasn’t offered up many specifics of what she’s eating as part of her diet, but even just adding exercise can make a difference. At Mullins’s size, walking at a brisk pace for 30 minutes per day can burn more than 300 calories, resulting in more than 30 pounds lost per year.

Mullins also hired a new manager that wouldn’t pressure a fast weight loss that she claims Rodriguez was pushing on her, allowing her to take her time and lose a healthy one to two pounds per week. According to Mullins, she was expected to lose the first 20 pounds in under two weeks, which she said “set her up to fail.”

Don’t expect a dramatic transformation in the first month or two of Mullins’s weight loss journey, but instead a healthy lifestyle change that allows her to slowly shed pounds in a healthier way. What you can expect, however, is for her weight loss to be well documented with the possibility of a reality series in the future to see how much weight she ultimately loses.
